I will give my thoughts on this topic. I am the owner of a 24 table room in central california. I support my players and i am a player myself. whenever pool is on ESPN I have it on mt tv's. the trouble with you tube or the old accu stat videos is mostly quality of video and lack of proper commentating.Im sure there are good videos out there but I dont have the time to sift through the bad ones to find them. when you dont own a pool room it is very easy to say why dont they do this why dont they do that. do me a favor, spend your life savings to buy a pool room. work 80 hours a week, add money to your weekly tournaments and wait for some idiot who only drinks water to ask you a stupid question about pool videos. sorry if i sound a little jaded. I love owning my pool room. it has been my lifes dream and i support this industry to the hilt. if there was better billiards telivision out there i would be happy to have it playing. if it is out there there needs to be better advertising because i dont know about it. Tommy I understand where you are coming from and feel you pain but can't help but feel that you may be slightly mixing what i am saying with how you feel. I am not a room owner but have a few friends that i am close with and discuss room things from time to time, now i am not saying that this automatically qualifies me but i was a business owner at one time so I think that does.
Yes the guy who only comes in for the special and hardly even buys a bottle of water does suck and does the leagues that come in and do the same thing but all i am saying is as someone else mentioned as a "pool hall" show pool on the tv. I totally get the quality thing but the commentating part is not needed since the music will be on not to mention most times on never "hears" what going on on the tv most times anyway unless it the main tv for the football game.
Time is of the essence and being as deep in pool as i am can understand the whole "making a playlist thing" but as i have mentioned in the past (once again a topic that came up in a thread not may not of been an actual thread) I never understood why it was that events get pumped only to a pool community and not the public "so to say". See back when TAR was on and many other streams such as challenge matches since they only seem to get advertised here (and now on Facebook) but never in an actual pool room, league players who are the back bone of pool seldom know who any pro player is or what event is coming up or going on. I can't help but feel that without a comparison it's somewhat easy to say that the lack of interest in pool is the lack of advertising in pool. If i was able to I would have stream parties the same way guy have football parties, at a time when there is no bigger events going on I would be running pool on some tv just for people to look at or look up at like some women's pool specially with chesika (can't remember how to spell her name but you know who) and those young boy shooting lights out so people can talk about them "wow look at that kid making balls", even some videos from Poolbilliards.co of them just running drills so people can see what actual skill is which in turn all of that may some how lead to better pool etiquettes, more interest in say lesson from one of the local room pros, owning better equipment hell even treating your equipment better.
I use to go to a friends room and plug up to a tv and play 3 cushion games for some of the older folks who played and that would get them talking and the like and they enjoyed it. I was just wondering why it was or what was the main reason that rooms themselves don't display pool more than just offering tables for rental, everyone seems to be a bit partial towards it with their own opinions but never trying it to test out the theorem.
I am sure that there are a few YouTube channel owners who will be will to put together a specific playlist for playing in pool rooms, billiards.co, genipool14, CSI, propoolinfo, Insidepool, Bilijar9, Tor I think would love to have his ad running in a pool room for his instructional stuff.
It was not my intention to offend owners such as yourself with or about the whole "how can we save pool, room owners should do this" topic, I was just shooting the breeze with fellow member to see what their perspective was on the topic and what i may of been overlooking as to why this does not happen.
