Everyone who has been keeping up with the thread on my lost cues knows what the odds are of someone finding and actually returning someone's lost and valuable property. I was already feeling pretty good after finally getting my cues back.

Well, I just beat the odds again with much more at stake!!

This monday, I was setting out on my bike to go to work around 7:30 in the morning. I make a left turn though a light and proceed on my way. I am heading down a 6 lane (3 lanes each direction) main road. As I am going along, I see a car pulling out and is currently taking up the right 2 lanes. I am in the left lane going about 40-45MPH.

Well, the car is inching out, and it appears that they are going to sit for a minute and let me pass before coming through and completing their turn. WRONG!!! The driver obviously did not see me, and I am right on top of them as I realize that they are still just coming right through to make their turn. I hit my brakes, and instantly realize I do not have the time or distance to stop. In my mind, I get a nice visual of me hitting the side of the car and my bike stopping dead while I continue to fly over the car at 45 MPH.

I turn fairly hard to the left, hoping I can miss hitting the car. A second later I feel the impact of my bike hitting the car. All of a sudden, I am in on the other side of the median crossing three lanes of traffic going the wrong way. I feel the bike leaning, and skidding. At this point I am 100% certain I am going down and just hoping to minimize the damage. Somehow, I pull out of the skid, correct it, and I am upright! I did not hit any other cars and I come to a stop.

After checking all my limbs (and my shorts!!) I look back to see debris from her car scattered across the road behind me. I had ripped her bumper, grille and most of the front end off her car! I look at my bike, the brake pedal is bent completely up and the right foot peg is bent also. That is the extent of my damage. I never even laid the bike down. Not a scratch on me or the bike! I can't believe that. My foot was on that peg. I don't know how that happened without at least my foot getting mangled. I am thinking that another couple of inches and my whole leg would have been crushed between the bike and her car at the very least.

The lady is 80+ years old. She tells me that this is the second accident she has been in within 6 months. I am thinking maybe she needs to pack it in. I call the cops, and he gives her the ticket for improper left turn and causing the accident. I had right of way.

Not only was I able to walk away from this, I was able to ride my bike home! Just unbelievable!!

Most of those stories don't have a happy ending... Glad you kept it upright and yourself in one piece... Don't forget to thank the man upstairs before you nod off tonight

Lucky

I had almost the same thing happen to me. My brother just bought a brand new harley. He just got it home and I asked him to let me take a spin around the block. Well I come to a 4 way stop with an old lady in front of me. She came to a stop and then began to make her right turn. I then moved up a little to the stop sign looked around. Say that she was just about done turning right. I started to go through the stop sign and all of the sudden the lady started to make a 360. She was about to hit me on my right side. All I could do was think My brother was just around the corner in our drive way waiting for me to return. He would hear the crash come around the corner and see his brand new harley smashed on the ground. Well I locked up both front and back brakes just as she was about to hit me. The bike went side ways skidded side ways about 12 feet. In my mind all I could think of was I'm going down. At the last second I let off both brakes the bike stood streight up and nothing happened. I pulled into my drive way and my brother asked me how was your ride. I Stoot in front of him with a face like I just saw God and replyed great no problems the bike is awesome. He asked if i wanted to go for a longer ride and I said no thanks I'm good. HA HA HA HA
