So last night I met up with a buddy to pick up a case I had lent him. Unfortunately something came up and he had to leave in a hurry. So I went out to his car to get my case, as he was jumping in the car he handed it to me and told me to enjoy it. At first I was a little stumped why someone would tell me to enjoy my own case. That's when I realized that it was a little heavier than it shoulda been. Sure as shit it had a cue in it! I was really blown away to find a Keith Holcomb cue that I had always admired in it. Not only is this cue beautiful and hits great but it has a great story behind it. Im originally from Rapid City SD and Im a big fan of our home state cue makers. Ive attached pics and a link to the "Last Chance cue" story below. Let me know what you think. Also Would love to see any other cues you guys might have from South Dakota Builders.

Thanks again Kev! I'm at a loss for words,

Wayne

Nice Cue!

An old friend of mine in Eau Claire,Wisconsin had a Keith Holcomb Cue. It was unfortunately stolen from him in the early 90's I believe. They are rare indeed and you don't see many out and about, except maybe in S.D. From what told me it was a great hitting cue with a beautiful assortment of woods! Enjoy Your Special Find. Good Looking Cue!!!

Well, I found two things rather intriguing about this thread...the first, is that it was so cool that he gave you the cue!!! It's fun to do those kind of things for people...and even more fun when you're the recipient!

Second...It's really fun to see people on here who are either still in, or are from Rapid City...that's where I grew up...or should I perhaps say, that's where I lived for almost 20 years as the jury is still out as to whether I actually "grew up"! :p

It's a long way from Rapid to Chicago...but not as far as Rapid to Upstate NY!!! ;)

My buddy Wayne (exvoto), (who I turned on to this website) is a very modest and top ten tattoo artist in Chicago, grew up in SD...he doesnt post here much, like me...I'll never forget when I talked him into playing on our pool team years ago when he was new to Chicago. JAMS, is everybody from SD so polite? He was very soft spoken and couldn't have been more grateful to be invited to play in our neighborhood league.

I'll never forget when we finally got to know each other better, and started talking pool and stuff. I mentioned a tournament to him I watched online, where a certain Shane Van Boening was up and coming and was chopping down the regular world beaters...I'll never forget waynes response, "oh yeah, we used to go fishing together"...I said "who are you talking about?". He said, Shane, Yeah, he's pretty good. I grew up with him and his family... Wtf??? No biggie I guess. That's Wayne, great guy and passionate about his home town, and has a modest cue collection, like myself. So the Keith is his now, as it should be. Now I know I have a free tattoo coming, if I could only figure out what to get....
