So rodeo is more popular than pool?

I remember when I looked forward to the NFL season. It meant pool on TV, when the ESPN and and other stations couldn't carry football.

But this year? No dice. We get rodeo. We get yachting, for chrissakes. Can anyone assure me that pool will ever return to television?

What am I, nuts or something?

No it just shows better on tv.in pool no one gets kock out or hurt

Dude, the PBR (professional bull riders association) performs at Madison Square Garden, for Christ's sake!.. You let me know when a pool event is being held at MSG, and I might agree with you..

Rodeo is huge all over the US and is a major draw at virtually any venue. Pool would be lucky to pull 1/10 the crowd a rodeo even does each show.

Hey pal, I'm a cowboy from Colorado myself. Don't rope, but I do shoot. And I'd much prefer to watch pool to a bunch of tobacco-chewing good old boys.

Come to Vegas in December you can see how popular Rodeo is. Its crazy. Pool will never even be in the same ballpark for several reasons.

Well some things are the same unless it changed in the last couple of years.... I had a friend who brought a friend of his with him to fill out a golf foursome... Turned out the guy was a professional bull rider... He was missing his spleen and covered in scars and was on medical leave...

I asked him if they paid well to go thru that kind of risk...

He laughed and said sure... He then proceeded to pull several PBR checks out of his wallet and say hell if these hadn't bounced I'd be paying for Mickey's (My friend) round instead of him paying for mine.....

I am getting old so that could have been 10 years ago or last month.... Leaning towards 10 years ago......

I got nothing against rodeos, but I'd rather watch paint dry or the grass grow. Kind of odd born and raised in south Texas, but I would rather watch pool any day of the week. Now as for the cowgirls.....that's a diffent story.

You have to face it though, unless you really love the game and enjoy it, pool is very slow compared to riding bulls and stuff. Action packed as far as the general public, pool is NOT.

The analogy for me is watching all of these "reality" shows. The general public wants to watch the fur fly, some guy with no teeth chasing gators and such, not watch some balls rolling around on a table. It's just not exciting for the average guy/gal.

All I know is every year the rodeo fills the Thomas and Mack center for about two weeks straight, casinos all over the valley actively advertise for the fans business.

Rodeo fans buy butt loads of shirts, boots, hats, trucks, trailers and who knows what other kind of redneck shit. Bottom line they spend a whole lot of money on things. Which means people will pay to put their product in front of them.

There is basically a whole sub genre of country music about rodeo. It's just apples and ping pong balls to compare it to pool.

Personally I think wrestling with live stock is pretty dumb but to each their own.

Rodeo has more of a built in wow factor. People don't have to know anything about it to enjoy it, bunch of guys on 1000 pound bulls flailing around with the chance to get killed is exciting i guess.
Whereas pool to the uninformed is a couple of guys hitting balls with sticks.

Asia is becoming the leader in cue sports. China alone has over 50 million players, television coverage of snooker and pool has increased each year.

Bull riding machines are gone from bars but bar boxes are still around. Maybe we stand a chance!
