So, what cue do you think Ray Martin played with? Because I was attempting to get an ID on a cue a while ago and ran across this picture of Mr Martin playing pool with a cue that seems somehow vaguely familiar.

Please see the thread with the pix of the cue in question: (go down to post #11)

Thank you for your shrewd and discerning consideration.

I think it's a Rambow, but it could just as easily be a Balabushka. Ray posts on here, you should edit the title (or pm him) so he sees it...he can put it to rest.

I don't know about the cue in the picture, but Fatboy has written on here that he owns the Gus Szamboti cue that Ray played with for many years.

You can ask him he post on here from time to time. I have seen him play with the cue and if it is the same cue (It looks to be) it is a Balabushka with the plastic rings in the butt.

My god.... if this guys cue turns out to be a Bushka, I will die because some fool set that thing on a drill press and drilled out all those holes in it for what ever reason. I dunno... The owner of the cue actually is from New Jersey and even play one pocket with Ray Martin from time to time. I am just going to have this guy get with Ray and hash this out.

Never seen a Bushka with a three sectioned butt-cap though. This one is strange.

Thanks guys.

I believe Ray showed me that cue in 1978 and it is not a Balabushka. It may be a Paradise, if I remember right. Ray was playing with his Szamboti with the ivory hearts at the time but it was the Paradise that he won his first championship with. He had both cues with him at the time I met him. I may be remembering wrong, but I don't think so.

Edit: I don't think the cue in the link is Ray's.
