So Why Do I Find Myself Looking at Meuccis?

Viking, Palmer, and Meucci were all we ever heard of, or saw, for so many years down here. I never saw an advertisement of any kind for one of them. The reputations of these cues was created by word of mouth, pool hall to pool hall, and they all worked themselves deeply into the psyche of pool players with whom I am familiar.

I know this sounds crazy, but you can actually own and play with more than one cue. Quite a few more, in fact!

The newer ones are not glued in, they butts are threaded and the weights easily screw in or out and maintain position well so that you can shift the balance point a bit. I have numerous Meucci cues dating from the 80's and some brand new. All had removable weights, albiet different threads
Thanks. I meant the newer ones in my photos as opposed to the older ones in my photo. They are glued in.

I am happy with my CueTecs. New Cynergy shaft is nice. I have other cues. Cues I don’t play with. Had a Meucci in the ‘80’s and had to sell it. Some at the pool hall made fun of it then for the plastic joint and soft hit. I have read the threads over the years about quality. I have seen there is hope with new ownership. So why do I find myself looking at the new issue HOF cues or the casino ones? With a Pro shaft or cf one. Why would I buy another production cue? Don’t talk me into it. 😛

I would also be a bit worried about being attracted to a Cuetec LOL. Decent cues now, but even more of a noob cue in the 80s, up to about when SVB started using one. If you want to get a Meucci then get it. There are a few models I would not mind owning, but not nearly enough of a fan to get one just to have it.

Yeah, I had no real interest in one. Then I hit some with the new ones. Not what they were then. I have had way more expensive that played worse.

How 'bout a good 'ol 'Wally-bushka'?? I went to the 'hall the other day and just for shits-n-giggles i went found a decent house cue with a fairly good tip on it. Guess what? I played exactly the same speed. All shots were doable. Yeah squirt was a tad higher but i seemed to adjust within about 25-30 shots. It ain't the cue folks, believe me.

Back in the late 60’s I was at Stadium Bowl in Houston. That’s when a lot of bowling alley’s has a room with pool tables. Stadium had 9’ Brunswick’s with yellow (yes yellow) felt. A preppy looking guy walked up to me and asked to play for grins. He took a cue off the rack and whooped me. When he left his comment was “if you can’t take a cue off the rack and beat everyone in the house then forgetaboutit“. Never ran into him again at any of the old haunts in Houston but I never forgot his comment. That was long before not everyone had a lathe to make cues in their garage.

Join us...and "feel" the force of the Meucci.

It could happen. I am not sure. Added a Daytime Road Agent to my think about it list tho. 🤔
Seriously though. I've bought/sold/traded and still own some high-end cues and play with a Meucci SP. I currently own about 12 Meucci's some older and some newer. In the end...it's what I feel comfortable with playing.

I really like my meucci with a 30 inch pro shaft. The hit is softer than most but very controlled. The hit is very smooth nice sound. Shaft doesn't feel hollow but it's def low deflection. I can still draw full table if I do my part. It's the cue I played the most matches with and it's the cheapest cue I got. I will probably upgrade to a casino butt I like the looks of it. Still some valid QC concerns just buy from Bob's daughter at budget and put in on a card via PayPal you will be protected if something goes down.

Not if the average person wants to be consistent they shouldn’t lol eliminate as many variables as possible And this is a pretty big One. Now if your more interested in posing with a cue then playing your best have at it 😂

and I don’t want to here but jason Shaw bluh bluh bluh. they are some of the best in the world. Don’t compare yourself to him or any pro and what they can do. We aren’t them .

A Meucci selling at auction now for $68 including shipping at https://www.ebay.com/itm/2666913240...d=link&campid=5335988529&toolid=20001&mkevt=1 It's got problems but only something a cue technician could fix very easily (or so say seller):
The separation is very tight and the cue still has a solid hit and plays great but causes the cue to have a large wobble while rolling the cue on the table flat. The shaft also has a wobble in it. The ferrule has a few scuffs or cracks by the tip but i can’t tell which one it is. The cue still hits and plays very well. I’m sure a cue technician could fix the cue very easily but i got it from an estate and don’t know anything about it . . .
