i was wondering why nobody uses a really soft leather wrap, like a lamb skin, suede or similar. I think this would be great. what has been used other than the ele. ear, linen, various stiff leathers, cork etc.. I would like something with a really soft feel, any ideas?

I have sold suede leather wrap blanks for years. But they are not very popular as I have sold less than one tenth of one percent in suede. They just get dirty and ugly too fast. They do feel nice in your hand. I have sold other softer leathers with a smooth finish, but they are hard to install as they tend to be stretchy. So the main reason you don't see more of them is they are a pain to install.

I had a Gus Szambotti cue years ago with a really soft leather wrap.
When we eventually took the wrap off it had newspaper under the wrap. Maybe one of the reasons it felt so soft. Probably used to build up cue size to meet incorrect cut I would think??

This is the softest wrap I've ever played with. It's giraffe, I really like it. When it gets roughed up, you just rub the grain the other way and it goes away. Very interesting feel in your hands. I'm sure it was very stretchy and a pain to install.
