Watched many times but never noticed the 9 at the spot. I thought 1 was always at the spot
have you played 9b with template and 1 on the spot? it's childs play to make the corner ball and dolly up the 1 ball by one of the kitchen corner pockets

I don't think the majority of the pros would do it because it is hard to get to Corey's level of accuracy with that break and even he may struggle to get out with the racks it produces as often the balls are relatively clustered. All went well for him in 2001 with that break, but he wasn't always that successful with it. If the balls are randomly racked it also leads to more variety in the runouts even with such a break utilized.I, personally, think a full tournament of the world’s elite doing it would be the most boring event ever broadcast. I would stop paying for WNT TV if that’s what they were to air.
You must have missed the tournaments in the early 2000s when all the pros were breaking soft and making the wing ball every time. Bustamante was breaking about 10mph ... I think I saw that in the world championship.I don't think the majority of the pros would do it...
Yep. Corey wasn't the only player soft breaking. It got to be kind of a joke. You must have missed the tournaments in the early 2000s when all the pros were breaking soft and making the wing ball every time. Bustamante was breaking about 10mph ... I think I saw that in the world championship.
I didn't realize it was that widespread- perhaps with the 9 ball racked on the spot it wouldn't happen as frequently. You must have missed the tournaments in the early 2000s when all the pros were breaking soft and making the wing ball every time. This is where the 3 (or 4 in some games) point rule is introduced right? Interestingly, this created a lot of variety in breaking styles. I know some players who break at what I consider to be soft speed, but making 3 points. You must have missed the tournaments in the early 2000s when all the pros were breaking soft and making the wing ball every time. In the second rack, after Mika hit a wired combo to sink the 9-ball...then scratched:Here is the finals of the US Open shortly before the soft break was outlawed.
The rule used in the US Open under Barry Behrman after the Corey-MIka match was, "you gotta hit'em hard." That same rule was used in the current Open. It's subjective. I believe the problem in the Gorst-Baoanan was with Baoanan's first two breaks. I tuned in late so I didn't see them, but the commentators mentioned them.
Then have a clear rule that 1 object ball must pass the headstring or touching the back end rail. Here is the finals of the US Open shortly before the soft break was outlawed.
