Well, as of today the ticket windows were closed because the KOH event has been sold out. Who from AZbilliards will be attending the event? When there, be sure to find me and say hello.

Deno

I'll be there. Thursday is kind of iffy but Friday thru Sunday for sure. Any of you AZers who are coming in early and want to make the hour trip to visit my shop are welcome to do so.

I do understand, it is for the purpose of taping and you needed just enough audience to provide a background for the show much like the David Letterman show and others do, It is really just for the TV cameras. You can also move around a small audience and control them with direction and reaction ques like they use on most audience shows to create excitement. It's the right way to do it, I would do it the same way, It guarantees you getting what you want. If that is the case though I would not have used an auditorium but a studio set up for such a thing, it makes more sense. Maybe set up your own studio in the future with the perfect conditions for taping pool matches. Boom cameras like Jay Leno uses where you never see the cameras and get a feel you are actually in the audience. Also there is no need to travel since you are going to use such a small audience and it is not really meant to be a public event but a TV show, you could tape every event in the same location.

Better than the World's I was at when Julie Kelly won. They were scrambling trying to get people to sit in the audience and were corralling people right and left for tv. It was a joke for a World championship.

That is actually a mystery. Bob Meucci planed on doing exactly that several years ago using his own stable of players. Tape pool matches and edit it for TV that he would produce himself in a studio. It was a good idea then and it's a good idea now. Maybe produce instructional shows on pool such as you see on painting or gardening except it would be pool and sell sponsor time on it or put it on PBS like many of the shows do. Sell cues in an informiercial format much like Estaben does with the guitars within a contrived pool show that could be showing matches or interviews and instruction. Cable television today offers a whole host of ideas that were not able to be done in the past. Much more can be done beyond just tournaments that would promote pool. KT has the capability to do it and I would guess the know how. Even a sitcom about a pool room could be done. By the way, Taxi was originally in one of the early drafts set in a pool room. Pool can be brought into the main stream in many ways.

Thank you for the information and I just wanted to say that I love that song about where you grew up-Flunkytown!.

Ive seen the same thing for the US open and the mens WPC too. Though it was on off days both times.

I think that is what he wants to avoid. Some matches will just not draw an audience but if he is to tape every match you don't want empty seats and an audience sitting there looking board to death. He has to control everything to be sure he has the best product, nothing wrong with that. It has to be an orchestrated production even if you have to seed the audience to fill empty seats and have them react like it is the most exciting thing they have ever seen. You don't want to leave it to chance.

Great Murray! I look forward to meeting you. I have been a fan of your cues for a while and hope to add a few to my collection in the coming year...that is...if I can get my hands on them.

I can see it now ... two guys at the table and in walks Joe new guy. The players look at him and one of them says, "I saw him first."

Hi Deno,

I bought two sets of tickets, but it looks like I'll be using only one set. Since it's a sold-out event, are the tickets in demand? Can you refund my purchase or should I try to sell them at the venu? Anyone need tickets? If so, please PM me...
