Solid hit

Hi, I'd hit with a ER 240 shaft with ivory ferrule and I like the solid hit very much. What part of the cue do you think contribute the solid hit the most? Is it the ferrule, shaft wood, the tip or even the butt?
If it's the ferrule, what other ferrule resemble the ivory the most in term of the hit feedback?

Carbon insert, parabolic taper,lamination and ferrule.

Hmm...ic ic.
My current shaft is joss, I think it has Aegis Ferrule, is it consider hard or soft? If I change the ferrule to something close to ivory, will it be softer?
