Some good Plain Jane or Pete custom maker options with soft hit

Worked at a local pool in high school in the 90s and got to be a decent player. Run a rack of 9 ball every once in a while and pretty good at one pocket. Fast forward 15 years and I have played sporadically. Played at Chris's pool hall in Chicago every once in a while, but never owned a house or had room for a pool table. buying first house next week and has a basement! First item is a table and a cue update.

When I played in the 90s I had a basic muecci that I sold for 40 bucks when I was so poor i didn't have food money. Later bought a schmelke sneaky Pete for 100 or so that is okay, but slightly warped now and I didn't love quite as well.

Looking for some good suggestions for some small shops or custom makers that make a nice looking plain cue with a soft joint and hit. Maybe wood joint or plastic. Not a big fan of the "tink" of the steel joint. I like to hit soft and caress the cushions for position. Any suggestions??? Looking for 220-500 max?? Thanks all.

Sounds like you liked the Muecci, so why not by a new one? Beyond that, the best custom playing cue for the money in my opinion is a dale perry on ebay, as long as you don't plan on selling it later on. You can almost always pick one up from him for less than 200 and get the weight and shaft dimensions the way you want.

It seems that a near unanimous feeling is that muecci's are not well made any longer.. no?

Type in "muecci" on an advanced search in the title of thread in the main forum and cue reviews. You will get a better understanding of why many posters feal the way they do about muecci cues.

joss has some 300 series with a phenolic joint..nice not too expensive. billiardwarehouse or cheapcues
