Some help needed

I have searched and searched the pages of AZ trying to find a cure for the black spots being made on my Aramith Super Pro balls by the shoe polish or dye on the leather pockets of my 9 foot Diamond Pro. Back a year or two ago someone asked about the problem and at the time I had never had this happen, maybe Realkingcobra or someone had a answer. I am thinking neets foot oil or some kind of wax because black shoe polish might just make it worse.

Thanks ahead --Leonard

may be it was this one...

Kiwi black shoe polish wax...not the dye...seals the dye finish on the leather and stops the dye from coming off on the balls...but it has to be the non-scuff wax, it drys almost to like a plastic finish feel on the leather.

Thanks again for the help, I will go out tonight and get the Kiwi and coat them pockets. It is really hard to remove the spots even using the profesional ball cleaner at my home room.

Pocket colors that stay on?

I noticed that the black pockets on all the Diamond Pros at a local "pub type" restaurant have this same problem. They all - 16 tables, I think - have lots of black missing on the pockets, not only on the inside (mainly top curve), but also on the flat tops at the rail, where people must slide their cues over the leather.

It looked like underneath the black there was another color finish, reddish-brown, that looked like it stayed better - more durable.

Is ordering a lighter color pocket a solution? What colors are available? I'd rather have a permanent solution than to wax, even if it meant "natural" pockets. The pocket wear is easily the first wear and tear thing you notice.

The brown you're talking about is the natural color of the leather. All dyed leather pockets will leave some sort of markings on the balls if the balls come into contact hard enough with the pocket lining...even plastic drop pockets like what's used on Gold Crowns. Treating the pockets is only one side of the problem, you need to keep the balls cleaned and waxed as well, then they're much easier to clean off any marks that they do happen to pick up.

Hey Realkingcobra I went to get the Kiwi black polish wax with no scuff and all the big shoe place had was Kiwi liquid polish or the old timey flat cans of Kiwi black polish so I got the flat can, is this the right stuff ?

Thanks again Leonard

No, the past wax will rub off on the balls. The Kiwi I'm talkin about you can find in most any grocery store. It has to be the liquid "Wax" or "Polish" and not the scuff and sole dye. Check Wal-Mart if you can't find it anywhere else.
