Some pics of my first cue

Here's a couple of pics of my first completed cue. It's only got the sealer and not the clear coat but I thought I'd show it off anyway. It's actually the 3rd cue I made, the first 2 were train wrecks. The pin was off centered on the first and I had to be a gluton for punishment and attempt points on my second. The points ended up 3/8 uneven but they were all good learning experiences. Got a couple of forearms in the making with veneers and so far the points all line up. This cue is solid ebony with curly handle and ebony butt with rings at a,b,c,d,e. All the rings line up even on the shaft. Made the pin myself whicj is 3/8x10. I couldn't resist to hit a couple with it and it is solid. Nice forward weight. Well let's hear what you think and don't be afraid to be brutally honest. Thanks for taking a look

I think that is a very nice looking cue. I'm fond of ebony and any of the maple woods.
Keep on building.

It looks good. The curly handle really makes the cue flow nicely.
Keep up the good work.

I think the cue looks very good, however your photo's suck!!:)

I think you did a great job, I would certainly be proud of it.

Keep up the good work!!!!!!

honesty

You want brutal honesty? OK, you asked for it! I think it looks like crap! You should finish it up and ship it to me for immediate disposal! lol Honestly, I love it! I've wanted an ebony cue with a curly maple handle for a while now but ebony is a little heavy so it needs to be cored for me. That takes away from the ebony "hit" imo.Your cue looks fantastic sir... I seem to be more and more interested in plain jane cues with nice woods anymore. If you ever feel the need to give it to a decent player who would gladly show it off and tell everyone who made it, by all means send it to me and I'd be happy to do just that!:thumbup:

Thanks for all the kind words. I know my picture taking abilities are a little rough. I think when it's all done I might send it a couple of peoples way to get some feedback on it. It might be a good way to get my cues out a little further away than the local pool halls. I might ask for volunteers for this just trying to figure out the shipping. Thanks again

In this case sir, I gladly volunteer to join in on your trials! If you want to & need my address, PM me and I'll give it to you. I'll give you a players feedback on how it performs!

No, it's going to have a small push in bumper like a sw. I cut the groove very tight so the diameter fits in about 1/8 so it has a very clean look to it. It looks like the bumper flows right into the butt.

Dramatic curl

Nice cue. I really like the curly maple handle. I've had a very hard time finding hard curly maple with that level of curl. Is that hard maple? If it is, would you consider giving up your source?

It is hard maple. I got lucky, I found it on ebay over a year ago. I got a 2x2x60 piece for 12.00 kiln dried. Curls from top to bottom. Just type in hard curly maple and you'll get some nice pieces once in a while. Hope this helps
