Some pictures of Diamond's first 9ft Billiards table.

Where does Diamond plan to market these tables to? Where is straight rail played?

I thought it was an extinct game replaced by three cushion when it got too easy for the experts to score. I have seen some youtube videos of guys doing the rail nurse, when I was trying to figure out what the game was because it was referenced in the Eight Ball Bible. It just seems like a lot of effort to go through to supply a table for a very limited market. But, I understand that it would be much easier to adapt the existing Diamond table into this configuration than going into a full 10' carom table. I assume the rail height is taller for this table?

Thanks,

Eric

Straight rail is not dead! There are several "billiard" rooms in Houston with both high-end 10' heated tables and (usually) older 9' tables. Truth is, the 10' tables are always busy with 3C players. But the 9-footers get plenty of play with straight rail players. Also true that world class players can (boringly?) run hundreds... But nothing beats learning the physics and strategy of the caroms than playing straight rail. The average pool player would find out soon enough how difficult it is to control just three balls that stay on the table. In many countries around the world that is how they grow their world class 3C players.
