Some thoughts on aiming from a pro player

Aiming systems...... how many exist?

I think the count may be 20 or 30 or something along those lines.

I will make the ball with ANY aiming system, and i will make the ball with NO aiming system. So find one that gives you confidence, and you will be using the right one.

Also, great ball pocketing is a 'process' of growth. A player over his lifetime will go through many different processes, and add tools to his tool box. He will use any tool in the tool box that he is needing right now, but that doesn't mean that he is going to throw out all the tools that he is not using today. Does that make sense ?

Give me your thoughts......

I agree. All aiming systems are good in the hands of the right users. All other "tools" are good, as well, when applied to the right "job."

Which pro player?

Maybe I misunderstood the title of the thread. I read it as coming from a pro player who was sharing his/her thoughts with the rest of us. Now I see that it can be read as someone soliciting thoughts from pro players. If it is the latter, I apologize for jumping in and sharing my thoughts. I am not a pro player. :o

How many aiming systems do professional marksmen use for accuracy with a rifle?

I'm an expert rifleman. (score 245 out of a possible 250 at 500 yards)

I use one system..........and it works for me.

Now that is to go without saying that it took many days of practicing position, breathing and focusing to get there.

Same applies in pool or anything else you want to achieve in.....practice, practice, practice. But make it your own.

Also counts for pool-- especially CJ could write here books just on the topic *balanced position and breathing and focus* (i m very sure :D )

No problem roger, it's always ok to give your thoughts !

I am a pro player that prefers not to identify myself on here. I run 80's to 100's all the time, and play in pro tournaments. However, everyone's opinion is welcome and valued.
thanks,

Good point

good point! Here is what I have found to be true......
.....the best players are very open minded about learning and trying new things. I bet this is how you improved over the years as well.

Thanks for you excellent posts on this aiming board, it's always a pleasure to hear your thoughts.

I don't quite like CJ's comparison with shooting, pool aiming is different. Even darts might be different from shooting, and in pool... How many marksmen look at the aiming device on their barrel instead of a target? Whereas in pool we have two different approaches to where to look last, object ball or cue ball.
Not to argue with his point, but I believe pool offers variety of aiming due to personal perception differencies. That's why we have so many threads on aiming which resulted in a separate subforum finally ;)
