Ivory ferrule
Years ago I was in Tim Scruggs shop with a friend that was getting a cue made.
I asked Tim about breaking with my cue because it had an ivory ferrule.
He said there is no reason not to break with my playing cue ivory ferrule or not.
He did tell me that in his opinion most cracked and/or broken ferrules were cause by not letting the cue become adjusted to the temp in the poolroom before banging away with it.
I have been banging away ever since and never had a problem.
