Sometimes I really hate 8 Ball

Actually, 8 ball rules in American pool are the bastion of sanity compared to 8 ball rules in English 8 ball, where every single player plays a slight variant and every single player swears blind theirs are THE rules.

Sounds like there could be a good Monty Python skit from this concept.

Oh, and there are many different sets of rules so there can be many different leagues to ensure your enjoyment, and take your money, as well.

My favorite stupid rule that people try to pull is the scratch on the break you lose rule. Really?? Are we living in 1932 playing for a carton of milk?? \

When I say this to them it just doesnt register... Obviously some crazy rule made up in the great depression to take the advantage of the break away. Its a theory I have and it may not be true but at least the story fits. Plus its funny to say with a sarcastic smile on :)

Besides who wants to win on a break shot other than the 8 ball?? Sounds like easy money to me

Yep Yep Yep

Yes!
I think most players don't even know that there is such a thing as the World Standardized Rules, because the pool world is flooded with advertising by the APA claiming itself as "The" official governing body of pocket billiards, and thousands of new players are led like sheep into the APA world of slop and arbitrary handicaps.

Sadly, when players get tired of the APA, many of them just give up the game, not even knowing there are options to the APA.

I know I'm challenging the Great Law of the Dollar by criticizing the APA, but I'm more interested in the integrity and the future of the game than in profit for a monopolistic company.

Go Mr. Lutz, Go rackem rickem flickem flackem.....I couldnt agree more...

Pool League play started the handicap tourneys only its become epidemic and now everyone wants a spot......or a special rule or something....but I guess change is inevitable....time to change back some though....

Just another lovely day in paradise.....
