Son won the MA Jr State Championship

Congratulations Alex and to you too sir, you must be a very proud father!!!!:happydance::clapping::joyful:

That I am for sure, but this does not come without issues of it's own; he is now complaining that he does not have space in his room for all the trophies he has

He has a metal that the manager of the first pool hall he went to gave him, it stated "Future Champion". That now has come true.

After coming in 3rd in the nationals qualifier, my son beat the kid that defeated him a few weeks ago twice, once to win the winners side matches to win the hotseat and again in the finals. Alex is the 2013 Jr MA state champ.

Congratulations to you and your son. Because I know you taught him to shoot well. Thanks for sharing this with us. Tell your son I said he is the real deal in the pool world.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

Congrats to Alex on his win!, what game was it?...how old is Alex and what was the age bracket he was in?, and what Pro's if any at this time does Alex idolize.

I know he must be very happy!:) & you too!

This sounds like an interview LOL, he read the posts last night, I will let him answer about his favorite players himself when I get home. Thanks for all the well wishes, if anyone will be in Vegas end of July when the Jr Nationals are please let me know and look for us there.

The championship game was 9 ball and he's 13, the brackets were 14 and under and 15-18. Races to 5.

His record was 1rd round - Bye 2nd 5-1 3rd 5-1 4th 5-3 to get to the hotseat. Finals went 2 sets he was up 3-0 but ended up losing on the hill 4-5 then won the second set 5-2 to win it.

This is the official page for the event http://www.facebook.com/neusapoolleague?ref=stream&hc_location=stream

Is this the same youth that was in question on selling his out grown cue in order to have funds to attend the tourney?
If so, that's awesome that he won!
Did you ever manage to sell the youth sized cue?

Yep, that's him (us hehe). This is not the tournament we were heading to, that is the Jr Nationals in Vegas. This was the Massachusetts Jr 9-Ball championship, so he has the State title for 14 and under, but the Nationals are still coming up end of July. Alex has been progressing really well, he finished 7th in a 42 player tournament (along with a 3-1 win over 3 Cushion pro Mazin Shooni in his room), enough to cash among players 2-3-4-5 times his age, then came in 3rd in the first qualifier for Nationals, and now he's the MA State Champ!

For selling the cue, we have gotten some very generous donations from forum members, and will be donating the cue to the raffle at the league fundraiser for the rest of the kids. There was about $250 donated, including $35 from a guy in Australia and $100 from a single member (thanks Banks!), which is about what I would have gotten if I sold the custom Jr cue, so it's going to the general fund for the league for another kid to possibly use.

For our funds, we still need quite a bit to get to Vegas (close to $1,000), so feel free to donate to send Alex there :) http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=316749

Thanks, come by Ayer sometime and say Hi, we're there just about every Wed night for Master's 10 ball league and Sunday afternoons for his Jr League.

We will also try to go to the benefit tournament in Snookers for Jarod so if you go, we should be there.

The sweetest victories are always the ones where you have come back from a previous defeat.

Congratulations to Son and "dad".
