Hey guys this is my first thread on the forums

I was wondering about the pool scene around the Beaumont / Port Arthur Texas area , I work overseas and have been out of the game for a few years but I am ready to jump back in.

I used to know all the players around the Golden Triangle back in the 80s and 90s but I am sure there are a new crop of players out there

I know Jack Burke at the Corner Pocket, was real strong and Tommy Sanders was near legendary to this day he is one of the best players I have ever seen

Thanks for any updates

tommy now lives around Austin somewhere and rarely, rarely plays anymore. When does though he is such a natural he still plays pretty well.

Appreciate it

Appreciate the update Ironman.

Last time I saw Tommy Play was 2000 or 2001 I think a guy named Walton came down From OK. City with Kid dont remember his name to play Tommy at Players Pool hall in Port Arthur , Both were real strong Walton played Tommy on the 9 foot and the Kid played him on the bar box I believe Walton won 9-8 on the 9 footer and Tommy beat the Kid 9-5 on the bar table great match to watch

james hasn't played a lot in the past couple of years since the IPT sham.
The kid plays a lot better now, I'm pretty sure you speak of Joey Gray.
james is a heck of guy and one of my favorites of the entire pool community, i like Joey too!!

I agree , I sat at the bar and talked to James for mabey an hour and a half before the match started had no idea who he was at the time. He came and sat down at bar and we talked pool and cars and folks. One of the most personable guys I have had the pleasure to meet.

As for the Kid I believe you are right his name was Joey as I recall , I remember that Joey's car had given him problems and they had just had it towed to the caddillac dealership right before they got to the pool room

As for Joey playing better now man I would love to see him play he was pretty dad gum strong 10 years ago he gave Tommy all he wanted on a bar table Tommy won but he had to put 7 racks straight on Joey to do it

next Time you see James tell him Billy Coleman (RED) from Beaumont says hello and that i hope to see him again myself one day
