OK, I am a proud owner of a new SW cue and it does play. I won't say that its the best playing cue I have owned but in the week I have had it I won both weekly tournaments that i entered. A small 8 ball and 9 ball weekly bar event. If it isn't the best playing cue I have had it definitely has the best out of the gate record of any cue I have owned.
This is the second South West I have owned the first was a Pau Ferro with Maple, and to be honest I purchased it off AZ, the cue was new and flawless but I didn't l like the hit and sold it shortly after.
It is completely different with the cue that was built for me from South West. The workmanship was no different TOP NOTCH. I wasn't impressed with the appearance of the first cue and I didn't like the feed back. It may have been due to the shafts being the standard South West taper. I purchased my new South West with 3 shafts two standard South West tapered shafts and one semi pro taper with a 12.6mm tip.I did so in case I have to sell the South West I can do so with two unplayed shafts. With the semi pro taper this cue plays and it is very becoming IMO. The 2 cues pictures are attached.

Anytime you have a cue style named after you, you're doing something right. People know what a SW Style cue is. Congratulations on your new cue.

Funny thing about winning and a new cue, when I changed my shaft I was on fire for a month, won 3 out of the of the first 4 tournaments I played with it and came in second the 4th one.

I am almost positive that the mental part of the game gets a boost from having something new to play around with, which causes our game to improve. It may not be that the shaft has 12% less deflection or that it has 4 more inlays than your old one, but the fact that you are all exited to try it out and are in a good mental state which causes good performance.

Like when your car drives better after it's cleaned.

You maybe correct about the concentration part. I was shooting a friend that probably is a coin toss as to who would win between us, I beat him 3-0 in a race to 3 in 9 ball. It was probably because I actually thought and looked before I shot. Still with the cue I was able to position myself with in margin of error.
