Southwest Amateur Tournament - Temple TX 17-19 OCT

I'll Try To Get Answers

The plan was always having 100-140 Singles sign up and 36-48 scotch teams. When it became apparent that this was not going to happen I came up with the idea of moving it somewhere smaller rather than cancel it. The format was never tentative. From the beginning to present the format has been the same. Nothing has changed except the location. However I did float the idea of double elimination.

I will contact the TD and find out if it's still going to be triple elimination or double.

The E-Center was free for BCAPL State...period. That was negotiated by our local League Operator for the BCAPL.

I also have doubts as to whether State will get that Venue "Free" as it did last year. The ACS will also have their State Tourney there again. The only reason they gave it free was the idea that they were going to sell alcohol and food. When everybody drinks in the parking lot and goes to McDonalds.....not much of an incentive to make your venue free is it?

The signup deadline has passed but entries are still being accepted on a case by case basis.

I'll also find out if we can put a limit on the amount of entries and announce how many spots are left

Wishing life away

Can't wait till this Friday! Nancy get home about 4pm and were leaving shortly after that, should arrive about 8pm. unless we are short of players Thursday night. I talked to Doc and he gave me a kitchen pass. I need plenty of rest so I can carry my end of the scotch double event. I haven't played scotch doubles since Melanie Koger and I played, then her health caused her too quit playing. Looking forward too a fun week-in.:clapping:

EDIT bump

The current situation of this event

Can someone please post the current status of this event? My head starts to spin a little while reading all these posts. I can careless what tables you bring in or not bring in. Just give me a table with balls on it. I really don't if it has pockets on not.

If the turnout is not high enough, which does not look like it as of today, can it be just one day event for open men division, so the players don't have to spend another $60 for a lousy motel.

We're pretty much in a recession right now. We have to find ways to cut cost for the players as well.

Thanks.

Update

The Scitch Doubles have another entry that came in Saturday

See Post #208 for info

With today being a holiday, we'll have to wait and see tomorrow for any last day entries.

Answers to questions previously posted.

Q: Is the format still the same?
A: At this time, yes. However if the majority of the players would prefer double vs. triple elimination, that is something that can be discussed/changed prior to the start of the tournament.

Q: Will there be a cutoff on entries and the number of free slots posted?
A: No. Anyone wishing to still enter should call (469) 222-5969 and speak directly with the TD.

You've got my vote for double elimination.
