Are all Southwest cue Pins Marked ???

I found somebody selling a Southwest that is said to be an early 6 point Southwest from around 1985???
The pin is not marked with a number or the catcus.. How do I tell if it's real.. He says he has a LOA from SW.. What do I look for??

Thanks

the early southwest cues were not marked. i have one from the late 80's and there was writing underneath the bumper. you might want to check there. also if the seller has a letter from laurie franklin you can just call her for verification. southwest cues keeps very accurate records.

No, they are not all marked. And if it's from the time frame you say, it will definitely not be marked.

How can you tell, check for quality of workmanship first. There are no fake SW's fromm that long ago, so if the cue looks nicely aged, with nice work, it's prolly legit. Also, compare it to the LOA from Laurie.

From that era you should also be lookinng for yellowed micarts ferrules among other things.

Post pics here too.

Jeff,
As long as the letter matches the cue, it's the best thing you could hope for. The hard work has been done for you.

Simple question:

Would you rather burn 60.00$ or 2500.00$+++++???????
If you answer 60.00...Ask the seller if he is 100%
sure its a SW. If the answer is yes, offer to pay shipping to and from SW
for a ID/Clean. (i don't like sending cues to makers unless they get a little cash for something) Then you know what your buying. Have the price set and
money ready, hear back from SW with the all good, Pay the man.
How i would handle it, if he had a problem with that.....I would pass on it.

Good luck

The pin should be 3/8x11,could have a large or small hole in the pin, also remove the rubber bumper, should be sealed with epoxy if the cue is correct. If it has a LOA contact Laurie and she can tell if it is legit.

I hate to ship cues for any reason and would find other ways, as have been suggested, to authenticate the cue. Shipping is really dangerous. "Stuff" happens in shipping.

South West

1993 was the first year they marked the pins with year and cue #.

You may be able to take pictures of the cue and e-mail to Laurie.

You will have to pay the price for the LOA.

But if you own a pre-date you really should have this.

There could also be writing on the shaft around the opening. If there is it probably matches the writing inside the bumper that someone mentioned above.
