Anyone know whats the balance point for this cue, say from the end of the butt?
Looking forward to any info.

My cue balances at 19 inches from the buttplate and has the standard SW tapers on the shafts. My cue has factory Ivory Ferrules.
all this to say: ebony cue with a compound taper, stiff shafts w/ ivory ferrules and a forward balance make for an awesome hitting and feeling cue. There is a reason for the 8 year wait for a southwest. By far the best hitting cue I have owned to date.
bruin70 said:kershenbrock's original taper for the cue had a "coke bottle" type shape in the grip and butt. ergo, the fat grip feel.
personally, i think SW's growth away from that shape has affected the hit
Birk1 said:my cue is a JF era cue (96 vintage), have they changed the butt taper since then? I have owned / played with an old Kershenbrock about 10 years ago (stolen) still have one of the shafts that I sometimes use on my SW. I dont recall the coke bottle taper, but the compound taper was more profound in the forearm of the cue, or at least more so than the SW I have.
My Kersenbrock does the same thing near the back of the grip. I kind of like the feel of it compared to the newer southwests though. Of course I have been playing with it for years now and I am very used/attached to that cuebruin70 said:my sw/dpk(that david has verified that he built) is from the 80's and it gets a tad fat at the back of the grip....that's where i was refering to about the coke bottle shape. ed young has brought it up to me as well,,,and that dpk and ed are once again using his original template.
don't know when SW started slimming the grip.
