southwest spot...what to do?

To me waiting 10 or more years for.a cue is ridiculous. There are many good cue makers that make a cue just as good if not better, without the wait

It was mostly about the flipping for $$.......not so much anymore it seems like.

the thing is that people are willing to wait 10 years for one or two wich drives up the demand because the supply is at a slow trickle. i have played with acouple of sw and alot of other cues it is hard to find the exact same hit and feedback that you get with one no matter what cuemaker you try. design well it is a clasic nothing real exstrodenary but with the right woods and veneers they can stand out in a crowd. then there is the name it has been around for along time and has been a subject of greatness in the cue industry.me personaly i would not wait 10 years for a cue that is crazy and trying to make money on one yes it is easy right now because they sell fast but if you have to wait 10 years to make that money who knows what is going to happen. so if you can make your money right now do it. if you want a cue to play with keep it, you can get your money back and then some, hell then you got to play with a high quality cue and made some money.

It was also my understanding that Laurie made a large increase in the cost of the cue removing any flip value . What you would be paying for here is the ability to get exactly the Southwest that you want without waiting ten years. Definately worth $$$ and an opportuniy that doesn't come around that often.

I put myself on the list many years ago ( about 8 ) and next to the telephone number, I had scribbled down some info. It was 1 veneer..1,150. 2 veneer was 1,250 and 3 veneers on a 4 pointer to start was $1,350. Back then, I was like,ok that's cool to lock in those prices and wait it out the 10 years.

But now with the huge increase in price, it's true just like everyone says...itsnot even worth it to wait. If you see someone selling one that you like and it's close to your specs, then just get it.

It was my understanding that the price lock thing is out the window. Everyone pays todays price. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

I have just read a few threads about waiting 10 years for a cue and it was stated it was redickulous. Try and get on Barry, Joel, or Dennis list and see what kind of luck you have. Last I knew Barry and Joel had closed thier book and if Dennis hasnt he should.

What is the going rate now for a "basic" 6 point SW?
Here's the last prices i have from Lauri. Standard woods like cocobolo into BEM with two laminates and no A & B rings was $2,200. Ebony was a $100 up-charge, a third laminate was a $100 and A & B rings (above and below the wrap was a $250 up-charge) plus shipping.

Good decision. Get a nice one and if you don't love it you can always get your money out of these cues. Be sure and show us your new cue.
