I heard long ago that he woofed at Buddy Hall..Offerd Buddy the eight ball and Buddy chicken out..Buddy said "GO F YOURSELF!!"..

Does anyone here know if this is fact or fiction?:D

Could be true. I know Mark was in Raleigh in the early nineties at a huge tourney and offered everyone who was there the eight. Freaked me out. Tony Mougey, Little Tony Watson, Tony Ellin, Archer, Parica, and others were there. I am, however, pretty sure Archer and Parica chatted with him. Parica beat him even 11-10 for a grand as far as I can remember.
 
i used to hang out at the cue topia in vegas in the mid 90's. There were only a few players he didn't mess with at that time. Johnny Archer for one. the time he did he got the 8 and was beaten soundly. i also remember him sharing 2 matches with c.j. wiley. i barely missed the two sets he lost to santos s. mark was a great player but took some lumps here and there. i've watched buddy and mark play several times. Buddy is eaisly the better player. Sidenote: one of the players he really respected was earl strickland at the time at least thats what he told me.
 
I really enjoyed Mark's posts when he was posting here. Hopefully he will stop by and answer this question for you.

Around 90 or 91, Mark showed up at Cue Topia (with backer) and wanted to play Jimmy Mataya and also wanted to play Buddy Hall. Both declined to play. He had no action (at least when I was there) that weekend. From what I remember, Cole Dickson turned down the action with Mark....

MARK GOT DRILLED BY CJ AT CUE-CLUB(I AWALYS HUNG OUT AT CUE-TOPIA) FOR 2 SETS 10 AHEAD $10,000 A SET, MARK WON 3 GAMES IT WAS 23-3, THEY PLAYED AT CUE CLUB THERE WAS 50 -70 RAIL BIRDS THAT NIGHT, CJ DIDNT MISS-HE MADE 4 OF 4 JUMP SHOTS AND HAD SHAPE ON ALL 4 THAT NIGHT-NOBODY COULD HAVE BEAT HIM, MARK NEVER HAD A SHOT. OTHERWISE NOBODY WANTED A PIECE OF MARK. MARK WAS A COOL GUY I LIKED HIM.

I do not know if the Buddy Hall story is true, but I wouldnt doubt it. Anyone that hasnt seen Mark play is truly missing out on seeing a pool phenom. When he was playing, no one (including Efren) had to beat him playing any game. And he is a stand up guy as well. Hope he is doing well these days.

Buddy still played pretty damn good when Mark actually entered tournements in the early 90's. I doubt anyone in the world could of given Buddy the 8 back when he still played his top game.

Unless Buddy thought Mark was juiced up and wanted to play him later or something, I can't believe he'd duck anyone in the world who wants to give him weight (sorry...no pun intended)

Mark played awesome back then, I have the tape of him playing Davenport and he plays REAL strong but Buddy is a legend and my $$ is on the Rifleman.
 
i agree. buddy wouldn't back down unless he had some reason not to. i watched them both play and i really like mark's game but buddy is just a little better. i watched mark have difficulties giving joe alvarez the call 7 in las vegas. I think buddy would run right through joe with that weight.

joe alverez can play, i mean really play-he is real low key but wow he can play. no he isnt a friend-just the facts
