Speed comparison question

Most of you guys refer to speed from A++ to D or D-.

My question is how would these letters equate given the APA ranking system?

I realize that there is no telling how good a 7 may be,or how bad a 3 may be....but what about 4-6?

IMO most refering to those rankings are really refering to the tournament trail in comparison to pros , a good APA 7 (assuming 8 ball ranking) might be a B player on the road, an A speed player might play at pro level on some days but a ball below pro most the time.

The APA skill level system is flawed when trying to compare actual skill...in part because of deliberate sandbagging, and in part because geography plays a big role in how APA skill levels fall out. I've seen 3's that could run out, and 7's that couldn't (also seen 7's that would be 15's if the scale went that high). As far as your question of SL 4-6...that's probably a reasonably fair representation of an "average decent pool player".
