looking for some input on ferrule material. i like to play and break with the same cue, i have put juma ferrules on a most of the cues i have built and a couple of them are starting to split. any suggestions on a more durable material would be appreciated.

ps. my tenons are 7mm, not threaded, uncapped.

For a breaking and shooting combo, I usually use a LBM ferrule as they can take the punishment. The shooting side is a bit more firm, compared to juma and similar types of ferrules, but McDermott uses it so.... Have not had to replace one yet after 15-18 years of using it.

Just a suggestion, you may want to use a capped ferrule and or a carbon fiber pad between the tip and ferrule. Even if you change ferrule materials that won't guarantee that the ferrule won't eventually split or crack. Just a suggestion. Hope this helps.

I offer many styles of ferrules as well as installations. For the customers who prefer a thru ferrule, I do 75 percent threaded and 25 percent thru. Your at 7mm so a few more thousanths and thread 5/16x18 and have the front thru say .250. Epoxy it on and your good. Two steps in making the ferrules but no biggy.
Hope this helps.
