spray on table cleaners

I recently purchased an off brand [that shall remain nameless] can of spray table cleaner. I assumed it would be like Chalk-off in that it would spray a foam on the table. Some foam did come out but mostly it just wet my table down with what smelled like window cleaner. It didn't really pick up much chalk. What got me thinking was the odor's resemblance to window spray. I've got some window stuff I found in a truck stop that is nothing but foam. I'm gonna try it on my old simonis before I recover it next week. Any one else try something else, like maybe that foaming carpet cleaner stuff? I've got an opportunity to experiment a little cause my dishwasher drain hose came loose and guess whats in the basement right under it!!.:o Don

I have not experimented, but I was not a fan of Chalk Off. It stained my table more than cleaned it. I find that a wet towel does just as good a job. Unfortunately I have a case of Chalk Off still in my basement.

I have tried the spray as well, What I found works best is a dry microfiber towel. Just wipe it back and forth, it creates its own static charge and the chalk come up. It is great way to clean it.

Same way as the simonis cleaner pad works, it is also based on a micro fiber cloth has a fancy holder and cost more.

Just water

A damp (not wet) micro fiber cloth pulls up some chalk and helps erase the burn marks. Does anyone else do this? Does the process smell like burned cloth to you as well? Thanks.

I have those spray cans as well...when I wipe it, the towel is blue and dirty, but I still feel it's somewhat of a gimmick. I rather just vacumn it with a vacumn cleaner...if they do that at the pool halls here on carom tables, it's good enough for me.

either the damp cloth or vacumn will do just fine. Once I'm done with my extra can, I'm not buying it again.

A damp, lint-free towel seems to work well on new cloth -- it's what everyone uses for the DCC 14.1.

I think much better is a vacuum cleaner if it's available. As strong as possible, assuming your slate joints (if any) are tight. You need to pull the chalk dust out of the cloth.

I would not use a spray-on cleaner unless Simonis said it was OK.
