I have a good break but I only squat whitey about two thirds of the time..Id lbe curious to know what techniques, english, rhythm, power do most of you guys and girls use to kill it on the break in nineball....Thanks

rock squat

real simple. MUST HIT ONE BALL SQUARE WITH CENTER CUE BALL.... Having said that there are some variations... For example, if i am making the wing ball and the one ball keeps ending up in the kitchen(down by where you break) i will break with about a half a tip to 3/4 tip below center to put a little draw on the cue ball so that the cue ball and one ball end up at least on the same end of the table... but to squat rock please see above

Im gonna say thats a pretty good percentage, considering the percentage of a perfectly stopped cueball getting kicked around the table by another ball.
Anyhow, full hit on the head ball, but you need a hair of draw on it. It is a stop shot like any other, the cueball needs to arrive at the pack with no top spin or back spin. The differences in weight will cause the cueball to bounce backwards a little, but having no spin makes it bounce back and stay put.

I agree. 2/3 is pretty strong. I stopped breaking from the rail and it helped a lot. I now use a normal bridge with my hand down on the cloth.

here's a tip FORGET THE SIDE RAIL BREAK! AND BREAK FROM THE CENTRE  its that simple.

I've been studying the breaks of players the last couple of weeks...the majority of the time a ball is made is when the CB goes to the side rail and comes back to the center....if the hit is full in the center no balls go in most of the time....I've been experimenting with a soft break about two inches off the centerline of the table and my percentages of a ball going in have increased nicely...also I deliberately hit it off center moving the CB to the side rail and back out....;)

if i stay down on my break.......the cb will usually bounce off the rack a foot and die, but of course staying down means i dont get my body into the break. If i break really hard i might get the cueball to die 20% of the time.

also known as the Corey Deuel Cut Break

you squat the rock almost 70% of the time???
that is quite the excellent percentage, considering chances are with 9 other balls flying around the table that the cue ball will get kicked somewhere.

I may get the cueball near the center of the table 20% of the time, and a shot on the one even less. I think 70% is a high percentage that most pros would enjoy.
