Squirt/Deflection On This Shot

That shot is precisely why a predator shaft is so useful. The predator still deflects, but so much less that it makes compensating so much easier.

That shot comes up, in some variation, over and over again.

Because of the lower deflection, I've found the shot below to be much more difficult to make with a predator (as bow of curve is more shallow with the predator). While I can make this MUCH more often with a Schon....[ START(

Not that I've made this shot or plan on making it in the near future, but I don't see why it would be harder with a Predator? It's swerve that produces the curve; the amount of squirt just constrains you to aiming in a specific direction given some desired cueball direction. In other words, you should be able to get the same arc on the cueball with any cue. No?

Besides, I don't think the Predators squirt that much less than "normal" cues. It's only about 22%-26% by Predator's own deflection numbers.

Exactly. The shot's not that hard, and anyone who can put enough side spin on the cue ball to get to the side pocket if they miss the object ball entirely should be able to make 1 in 5 with a little practice.

I find the shot much easier to do with a low-squirt shaft. I recently tried a student's stick with which I had to aim a ball and a half from the ghost ball to make the shot. That student now has a Z2 Predator and enjoys not guessing at his english shots.

i have been watching this forum for some time and the posts by dcp.
why would he ever use tom rossmans name as part of his
screen name unless he wanted to draw out of the ordinary attention
to himself?the continual questions added to that, look like an attention seeker. tom rossman is a true artist and master of this game. using his name seems to me as some type of plagerizm.
to make up the continuing questions he asks, in my opinion is an insult to the intelligence of the people in this forum. i , from reading his posts
believe he continually makes up questions, (that he probably already knows the answers to( just to get reply posts and draw more attention to himself for whatever reasons he has. too much time on his hands?
as most that know me , i post little , but only when i have a very decivise opnion.

You might be right, because I remember when he first started posting on here, he would talk about how he would miss an easy shot and break his cue in half, or chuck it across the room. He said it like it was something he normally would do. This was two or three years ago when he first registered. Apparently he practices every day for hours on end. Maybe he has a problem with Tom and is trying to make him look bad, I don't know. Some of his posts are downright ridiculous. He asked about a short straight in shot, like a foot's distance from the CB and OB to the side pocket, and he wanted advice on how to draw the cueball back 3 or 4 inches. He's got his own table at home, all he has to do is practice for 5-10 minutes and he'll learn how to do the shot easily. He is a bandwidth-waster IMO.

exactly - I throw in a bit of draw or outside to make sure I'm ok just in case I overcut.

The problem here (which people seem to be missing) isn't that he missed with outside+draw - it's that he used outside+draw to begin with.

That's a center ball shot all day long. Cut the ball with a firm center ball stroke, pocket the ball clean and the cue ball comes back naturally where you wanted it in the first place.

Your using english for a simple cut, and now you have altered the natural angle of the rock and have to adjust your cut to compensate for squirt....

Either learn the basics and practice them or give it up...

You could screw up a 2 car funeral persession...

are you saying to hit the shot with pure center ball? no left, no right, not low, not high?

but you also say to hit it with a "FIRM" center ball stroke. isnt this the same as stun?

not sure i buy your ideas here. hitting it with stun, possibly. just hitting it center ball, no way. plus this is a somewhat thin clip, and if you hit it "FIRM" as you say the cue ball will come back and forth across the table, and you will miss position.

and by the way, thats procession, not persession............

DCP, by now you've probably noticed that this shot can be made or missed in any number of ways.

Why not experiment and find out for yourself what works best for you? And report back to us on what you learned.
