Is it harder, the same or easier to jump with a low squirt cue?

Because it’s simple math/physics. A shaft without a hole in the end will not have multiple points where the shaft can flex. A LD, Predator style, shaft with a 6 inch hole will now have two points of flexing. At the end of the bore, and at its taper flex point. This is the focal point of the end mass idea into making a LD shaft. The tip is literally being forced around the curve of the ball creating a lower CoR.
So (I think) you're saying it's increased flexibility at the weakened tip end of the shaft, a side effect of reducing end mass.

Do you think less end mass itself adds anything to the effect on jumping?

Yes/no. It does for LD playing shafts because of the extra reductions in weight through a slimmer taper, lighter and softer ferrules, and it’s pliable leather tip. For a LD playing shaft to jump a ball, you must first negate the soft tip/ferrule. Then once you have struck it harder enough to negate those, the shafts taper is designed to flex along with its reduced end mass. But for a jump shaft, boring out the front end should have very little effect, they’re not designed to flex. I wish I could make a picture describing it better, but there are multiple reasons why you don’t see LD jump shafts on the market.

It’s like trying to pound a nail in using a rubber mallet. Sure it’s possible, but there are other better suited options for it.

My experience agrees with PJ. I use the Stealth AT-1 Air Jumper. With all three pieces it totals 8 oz. Without the extension it weighs in at 6 oz. It also cheaper than most others at $100.00. Jumping is more about technique than anything, but for me, lighter is better!

Of the jump cues I’ve tried lighter is easier, and jump cues are always lighter and easier than playing cues. Not the only thing, but there seems to be a connection.
