Squirt

Anybody have an opinion on Gilbert and/or Stacy cue squirt. I realize this will depend to some extent on custom features of the shaft, but my question is more general than that, say, for example, buying one used or off the shelf.

You're referring to what aftermarket shaft builders call "deflection", right? Can't comment on Gilbert (= forgot), but one of my students plays with a Stacey that deflects as much as any modern cue (= in other words, not a so-called "low-deflection" construction at all – there's more deflection to it than any of my playing cues from the eighties/early nineties). In fact, he had me order an OB Classic shaft for it for precisely this reason, difference in terms of deflection is huge, "hit and feel" are different of course (the OB is laminated, short ferrule), if ultimately subjective. Prefer his cue with the latter, but not a favourite cue of mine by any means. He's undecided as to which shaft he likes better, stock or OB (fitted by Stacey himself with custom collar!). Not sure this helps?

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

I have a like new 06 Gilbert. The stock shafts 12.9mm are fairly stiff and cue ball squirt is fairly high. I'd say similar to my stock Schon shafts.
