Has anyone done this? Have a CB with some severe cracking and checking. I don't really care what it's worth, wanted to know if stabilizing with resin or epoxy was possible. Would be cool to have it filled with a bright color too! Could be used as a buttcap, joint, or shift knob. Shipping would be obvious issue, I know this...

opticon, spelling might not be right, pronounced op-ti-con. I have used it before in my jewelry business for filling fractures in gem stones. its an epoxy type liquid, soak cue ball in it, let it dry, buff for a finish.

Not sure if stabilizing is the right word to use. Could you fill cracks in a cueball with epoxy? I guess so as long as it's thin enough.
As for making cue parts from a biliard ball, that is certainly possible and it looks great too. I have only done cueball ferrules, but it should be no problem doing joint collars or hoppe rings from the same material. It glues up well and it's easy ti work with, quite stable too from what I have experienced.
