I was having problems placing a bet with Stan James. I emailed them and they told me the U.S. clients can not place bets at this time. Did anyone else have similar problems. Of course I would have won my bets- Allison, Daulton, and Ortman!!!

Yes I had a problem with them. I told them to go to hell. I have accounts for Greyhound & Horses all over the USA and other countries and have never had a problem. Johnnyt

I think they have closed all US accounts as of yesterday.

It was fun while it lasted, but someone had to start a post asking if online gambling is legal in the US.

I suppose if you are listed with Stan James as the biggest outsider in a 200 player tournament, you may want to show them that you still have some bark in you.

Wow! Sorreeee! I didn't mean anything by it. I am new to gambling/online betting and was just asking an innocent question and re-posting the article that Steve Lipsky posted. I think your flame-throwing is a little mis-directed.

Btw - I am no longer the biggest outsider with a 28.8% average, and several people way under me, lol.

Online gambling illegal in the US?? Why??? It's almost compulsory in the UK! So when I'm on vacation in the US and place a bet on a Soccer game into a UK website, I am breaking the law?

Yea, be carefull. They are probably looking for you right now! I hope the past bets are ok. BTW- Linda, don't worry about it- he was probably just mad that he could not bet on you!!!

Actually, my disgust with this proposed law has to do with the poker sites, and not the sports book sites. I think betting on a game in which both participants play almost perfectly (like pool) is kind of silly to begin with, but hey, what do I know.

I hope you're not implying that Stan James, with assets of maybe a billion dollars or more and probably a huge staff, is making business decisions based on this message board?

Somehow I think they are probably more concerned with their betonsports.com colleague being arrested on a US layover, than my posting of the article reporting it. I promise you they did not learn of it from my post, lol.
