How do you stand when you shoot?

1. Are you square or sideway?

2. Do you bend your back leg or keep it straight?

3. Does your chin touch the cue?

4. Do you open your hand on your backswing?

5. Does your cue touches your chest?

Thank you.

1. Don't remember, probably square but it depends on where I am in relation to the table.

2. straight

3.yep

4. Not really, my third and pinkie finger never touch the cue anyways, so I already have a free stroke.

5. I don't think so. I doubt it though.

My fundamentals are a cross between a pool player and a snooker player. But I think I am more snooker that the former.

I do what ever feels comfortable at the time. Sometimes my left leg is bent and I'm leaning forward while I could shoot the exact same shot and have my left leg straight and I am leaning away. My chin doesn't ever touch the cue, nor my chest.

1. Are you square or sideway? sideways

2. Do you bend your back leg or keep it straight? straight

3. Does your chin touch the cue? no

4. Do you open your hand on your backswing? slightly

5. Does your cue touches your chest? no

1. both...walk into the shot square (snooker) but set up a bit sideways
2. back leg knee is locked as part of my preshot routine & timing
3. always
4. yes
5. yes...can feel the cue as I stroke

And you should of asked if they pause in there stroke...and if then is it in the height of their backswing ala Buddy & Allison.

1. In between

2. Keep it straight but don't lock my knee

3. About 1 inch above the cue, when I am playing bad or lazy it's higher

4. Somewhat

5. Never, whenever my cue touches my chest either on the backstroke or foward stroke I attribute that to a very crooked stroke. If you have a snooker stance and are very square to the shot, for some body types it's normal for the cue to touch your chest. If you a large or very heavy person, it can be normal for the cue to touch your chest if you stand sideways (basavich).

1. Square

2. Slightly Bent

3. most times, not on all shots.

4. No

5. most times, not on all shots. I find it easier to keep the cue in line that way, just something that developed over time as a benefit.

1) To the side

2) Straight back leg

3) Chin on cue for most shots, but not for close-up thin cut shots or back angle cuts.

4) I let the cue ride on the pad of my index finger with the other fingers gently in contact. On longer strokes my hand opens, but all I pay attention to is the feeling in my index finger.

5) The cue touches my chest on the side and only slightly. If fact, that is one of the keys for me to tell when my stance is not correct. If I feel the cue too much under my chest, I know I didn't rotate my shoulders enough when I got into my stance.

1. Are you square or sideway?

Sideways- about a 45 deg angle from the cue.

2. Do you bend your back leg or keep it straight?

Back leg is locked.

3. Does your chin touch the cue?

Depends on the shot and the game, but typically my chin is about an inch above the cue. I think in straight pool, I tend to stand up more, but that's not a conscious decision.

4. Do you open your hand on your backswing?

No.

5. Does your cue touches your chest?

No.

My answers to 1 & 3 would have been different a couple of years ago. I used to square my body and my chin would touch the cue. More than once I had the joint pull out chin hairs. Gradually, my stance has shifted. Having the body sideways allows me a more natural stroke, though I still think the squared, snooker stance, gives me better balance.

Thank you for the answers. I was debating if I should keep my back leg straight, and if I should use my square snooker stnace or sideway stance. I am suprised to see so many people keep a straight back leg.

1. Are you square or sideway?

slightly sideways. I used to keep my body straight, but I am now sideway

2. Do you bend your back leg or keep it straight?

I used to keep the legs straight, then I bent it, then I kept it straight, and now I am bending it again. I lock my hip to keep my body from moving.

3. Does your chin touch the cue?

Yes, always. From snooker, old habit.

4. Do you open your hand on your backswing?

I used to never move my wrist, then I tried to keep it loose but never intentionally open it. I am not sure if I open it or not now.

5. Does your cue touches your chest?

I used to all the time, it was good for accurate shots, but I lacked a bit of power, and sometimes I felt "choked" so I let it stay very close to my chest now.

Square - walking into shot - right knee bend a little.

Chin on cue - aiming like im lookin down a rifle.

Open hand on bak swing - very loose grip - wrist action on release

does not touch my chest

but I try to keep as level as possible at all times and follow thru
