Stances with different heights for different shots

I just noticed that for rail bridges or follow shots, I feel more comfortable when I bend my knees a little bit less and my stance a little bit higher. This seems to make sense to me--it seems necessary to maintain a level cue when you're cueing higher--but is it normal or fundamentally sound?

If you are elevating your bridge hand by an inch or two, raising the rest of your upper body the same amount would keep you in consistent alignment. Kinda makes sense, doesn't it?

Yeah, it made almost too much sense to not see it mentioned anywhere explicitly in books/videos that I've encountered...

thejeffcho...That's because there's no one right stance for everyone. The stance is one of the first things people want to mess with, when they are not playing well. We are all built differently, which is why there is no "one size fits all" in anything in pool. There are 49 million poolplayers in this country...and 49 million stances. Which one is best for you?...sounds like you found it. I'm planning another Orange County pool school. If you're interested, please PM me some contact information for you.

For most shots, it's best to be low to the table but many people would do well to raise their head position on short shots so that they can see at least some cloth between CB and OB. You don't want to obstruct your view of the OB with the CB!
