Hello every1. I need 2 buy my first cue for under 100 euros next week. That includes hard bag [9e], shaper [5e] and shipping.

btw I'm from Europe and will be buying cues online in Germany.
You shoud know that I'm a total noob and prob will be playing only 10x a month.

I was thinking about getting something from Fury or McDermott Lucky Series.

I'm new here so I can't post links but I would prob buy from this site since it's free shipping for over 75 euros.

I like the look of
McDermott Pool Cue Lucky L24 for 75e
and
Fury Silver Star FSS-4 for 75e

Or can I go even lower 4 the first cue and get some cheaper Classic or Cuetek cue ?

Any suggestions for cues from this sites would be appreciated. The only preference is Irish linen wrap.

100 Euros is about $130 American. I have heard a lot of good things about the Players brand cues. Seems to be the best bang for the money.

I have a Lucky (by McDermott) and a Players cue. I love both, you can't go wrong with a Players especially :)

Players HXT series, I have personal experience with their shafts and cue and it's one of the best cheaper production cues I played with. If you like a low deflection shaft that is. The HXT shafts are in the lower side of low deflection, the regular ones at least.

I think for that much, they play better than the cheaper McD brands.

While I can not speak directly to the woods and construction of McDermott or Players cues, I can tell you specifically about Fury.

I visited the factory where these cues are made last year (I do work for the North American distributor) and learned a lot about their recent improvements.

The most impressive aspect was their shafts. Whereas this factory makes cues for many well known name brands, the shafts for Fury cues are made from hand selected maple heartwood dowels, imported from Canada. They are stored vertically in a facility that is entirely climate control, unlike many of the other cues they make that are produced in an open air facility. Each shaft is turned down slowly, over time, in keeping with the general custom cue makers "best practices" to ensure stability and straightness. This is why each new Fury shaft is marked as "special select". This is also what has allowed Fury to offer a lifetime warranty against warpage.

While Fury is not as well known and prevalent as McDermott, Players, Lucasi, Predator, Viking, or even Meucci, they have continued to improve on their construction, design, and technology in their ten years of existence.

For a first cue, I don't think any of the options mentioned are poor ones, but at least now you have a little more education about one of the brands you are considering.

I used to have a cue shop and sold a ton of Players brand cues. For the money they are a good cue. The only thing I didnt like about them was the tip, but once I put a lepro tip on the cues actually played great.

I also agree with Carter on the Fury cues. I think they have a great line of cues and if I were looking to buy a budget cue this would probably be the one I would buy.

I have two Players cues and have to agree it is a great bang for the buck. Unfortunately they're not available from any of the sites you listed. I've heard good things about Fury cues so I'd probably go that route. I have a Cuetec that was given to me and I don't like it at all.

Your not going to go wrong with either of those brands for the money.

Pick the one you like and buy with confidence.

thanx guys. Yeah I heard a lot good things about Players cues in that range especially HXT30 [that's little over] but I can't get them in Germany. At least I didn't find any company online that have them.

So I guess I was on the right track. I'll go 4 one of these two. I like the Fury look little more.

Thanx, I'll update the thread and tell you my impressions. ;)
