Steel half joint question

I am not a cuemaker, but like the way half joints look. I have heard they play good as well.

My question is can you buy a steel half joint, or do you have to make it? I have seen full joints for sale but don't know that I've seen half. Thanks.

I don't know of anyone who sells them . I once purchased a bunch of cuemaking stuff that had belonged to first Brunswick and they sold out to National Billiards, who sold all their stuff to their cue repair guy (Bobby Nickerson) when they got out of the cue business and I purchased it all from Bobby. In that bunch of stuff there were a few hundred SS rings that were used to match shafts for old Vikings and some Palmers which had the SS ring next to the joint. Me and Dickie used to use them for SS half joints more so than for shafts when we were partnered up. When all the thicker ones of that batch were used up we started cutting down SS joints.
