Steinway Billiards/Cafe

Steinway has tournaments on Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays. The tournament directors have years of experience, and are used to this. One of the TD runs/works with Tony Robles on the Predator Tour.

I heard $150 for 2 hours with Earl.

Just go, and have fun. Also, don't forget to their desserts. I love their tiramisu!

Steinway is also this year's host for the annual Ginky memorial. Three regional tours cooperate together to run this fabulous 3 day event. Also, I believe Dragon announced they're be back at Steinway for it's this year's 14.1 world.

I knew about the Monday & Wednesday tournaments as I have played in them a little over a year ago. I never knew about tournaments on Sundays though. What are the details for it?

Went there for the first time today to practice. I don't know why it took me so long, I only live about 25 miles away on Long Island and was even in an APA league at BQE Billiards which is about 2 miles away. While it was really nice and the staff was pleasant I think I had too high expectations about it. It was a pool room, just like many I frequent. Nothing special. I guess because of its reputation I expected gold!! I do wish I saw the post above recommending the Gyros as I love Gyros and since Astoria is basically Greek I bet they're really good. One thing I was surprised was they didn't sell any clothing. I was planning to get a Steinway T-Shirt or the collared shirt that Earl wears.
BTW, I did not see Earl there. I did meet him at Raxx in West Hempstead though.

Gyros are really good!.... ask for more white sauce?

Earl does show up regularly depends though. He is a chatter and I love it!

You get to get the nuances if u get what I mean. your day to day on the table

Spoke to him bout how he originally met Mizerak and how he beat him... great guy and talks about the game with so much enthusiasm that it sparks u up.

I love pool, the pool there and he is definitely one of the reasons why.

I miss the chicken special. Best thing i had on their great menu. I would have to disagree about this being an ordinary pool room. You don't see current or previous world champions waltzing in for practice or being a part of the weekly tourneys. Action played left and right of you. Almost everyone willing to play for a small wager. I think its one of the few great pool rooms left in NY.
