Need some professional opinions or at least some opinions from "experienced" players, pfofessional or not, that have played with any of the following cues.

I will be in the market for a new cue in the next week or two, and had these three makers in mind, BUT, not limited to just these cue makers, I am open to all suggestions.

Out of the three cues listed above, which one would make the best "player" ??? I am looking to make this my main playing cue.

I PREFER a wrapless and so far have found a nice Coker wrapless that I have my eye on but it is a couple hundred more than I WANT to spend. I have seen some of Steve Klapp's wrappless cues here on the forum that I fell in love with but didn't have the funds at the time, so a Klapp cue is high on my consideration list. I also found a nice Carmeli on Ebay, although not a wrapless, it is a nice used Carmeli.

Can any of the experienced players give me their opinions on the above cues ??? Also, as mentioned, I am open to other cue makers if anyone wants to recommend a different cue than what I have listed above.

Thanks in advance for any and all opinions/suggestions.

Other makers/cues I have looked at and/or considered are below (not in any official order). Also, STILL open to any suggestions......

Phillippi
Tony Sauer
Joe Porper
Mike Erwin

Those are all great cuemakers you have listed. I have had personal experience with Joe Baker, and Bryan Mordt. Both would be excellent choices. For the dough, I have rarely hit with a cue that was more solidly constructed than Joe's. He is here at azb under the jbcustomcues moniker. I have also owned a Leon Sly sneaky that was converted from a Predator blank, and while I never did get to shoot with it, it did have a wonderful feel in the hand. BHQ (Brent Hartman) is also lurking around here at azb as well. I have also heard alot of good things about Kevin Varney's cues, in terms of playability, and there is this Keith Josey fellow I have heard a thing or two about. ;) I am a wrapless junkie myself so I do understand. Glad I could complicate this for you... Good luck with your search. All the best.

I'll put what $0.02 that have in...

Coker: Very solid hitting cue! Very well made. Look for any of his cues with the "old-growth" shafts as they play very very solid...not "stiff" per se, but very solid!
Klapp: Great guy to deal with! See my review of Klapp's cues here in the review section.
Phillippi: Haven't played.
Tony Sauer: Haven't played.
Joe Porper: Haven't played.
Mike Erwin: I've had and played with one of Mike's cues...for me, I didn't care for it with regards to the playability. The only way I can think to describe it is that it seemed "dead" to me.

I don't think you could go wrong with either Coker or Klapp in my opinion...Klapp's wrapless cues are absolutely BEAUTIFUL by the way!

Thanks so much for the helpful review j2. You've given me a few more cue makers to look into. Most of the keith Josey's I've seen are pretty much out of my price range, however, I haven't really seen THAT many for sale.

Thanks Jason, I was hoping you would chime in. I read your full review on Steve's cues, I was actually wanting one of the Klapp wrapless cues that davescuerepairs had out on Ebay but I was about a week too late and they are both sold. The Coker I am looking at is on Ebay right now, a beautiful NEW wrapless, so it's not one of his older ones, but it's also a couple hundred more than I WANT to spend, although if I find the exact right cue I want, I WILL spend the extra money on one if it's what I want. There IS an older Coker out on Ebay right now but it's not a wrapless and if I'm gonna spend that kind of money, I REALLY want a wrapless.

Keep your eyes and ears open for a wrapless Klapp cue if you know anybody that has one for sale. Thanks for your input and for chiming in. :)

Coker makes a great player. Real solid hit and lots of action on the ball. Not too pricey either. I've had mine for almost 7 years and wouldn't think about selling it. Still play with it from time to time.
