There is a posting on Socalpooltalk that Steve Mizerak is in the hospital. I hope he is feeling better.

Nobody "Beats the Miz":D

I Hope he is OK. I cherish the few tapes i have of him playing.:)

even though i always tried to play like Mike Sigel, allot of the local guy's
always say stuff like " who is the guy Steve Mizerak" I always take that as a complement.:D

Best wishes to "The Miz".

Please update if you hear anything.:)

Steve has been in the hospital for about a month now. Please remember Miz and his family in your prayers. He's one of the greatest, and sadly he is in rapidly deteriorating health. He is one of the greatest players and most popular personalities our game has ever had.

I was just thinking about him yesterday before i knew any of this. I met a guy at the Flamingo where i hang out and his cue had Steve's signature on it. I had never seen one before.:)

Does he want to sell it?...IF...IF it isn't a Kmart cue. A guy on my league uses a Mizerak cue that he paid about $300 for in about 1988. I was shooting with a Mizerak Kmart cue at the time that was similar, but different. Mine cost from $20 to $40 (I had several--they were like disposable lighters for me as I'd lose and break them too often). I wish Kmart still sold them as getting a new one was easy, considering the number of Kmarts around the country. They had great joints and once you mixed and matched shafts and butts, you'd usually get a nice straight cue for very little money, my idea of heaven.

My teammate has tried many cues since then and always comes back to his Miz.

My thoughts are with Steve,

Jeff Livingston

He did make refernce to it being a cheap cue, but played very well.
It had 4 points with inlays or maybe simulated inlays?
I will check on it further next time i see him in there.
My K-Mart was converted to a Sears Essentials store and they have
some pruducts in the pool cue section with the Miz on them. I never really
looked at the cues to much. I was do busy looking at the table. I used to have a table in my house and sold it years ago when i was not playing due to a back injury. Boy do i miss it now.
