Sticky Whyte Carbon

My buddy is not a member and asked me to ask the forum:

Does anyone have a whyte carbon wood grain shaft that became sticky? Any advice to improve it? Has anyone removed the coating? It’s sticky even with a glove.

It’s been this way since new.

Thanks!

I have never seen one of these shafts let alone played with one. I do play with carbon fiber shafts. First off I now wear a glove because I feel they almost require one. I find them sticky or I feel dirt/oil builds up on them quickly. My first Carbon shaft was a predator revo I thought the shaft got sticky /dirty very quickly. I started carrying a little spray bottle of rubbing alcohol to wipe it down whenever needed. Currently using a Jacoby black shaft and don't find it feeling as sticky. He should check with the manufacturer if alcohol is recommended start keeping it handy

Shaft wipes or denatured alcohol.
The coating is more sticky than the raw shafts, but I personally think they play fine when using a glove.

Thanks all. He has the bull carbon also, and doesn't have an issue with it. Only the Whyte Carbon. I'll relay the messages.

They say that it’s more sticky and one should wear a glove.
I’ve seen the white version and it got pretty dirty after the first session.

I had the white-coated Whyte Carbon. Similar stickiness to the wood version. A glove took care of it, but you need a fingered glove. Cut-off fingers means part of your skin rubs along the stick and can cause stickiness.

I also used to wipe my stick every so often with a drop or two of Cue Silk.
