i have a beautiful 8' maple gandy and all is well with the table except when i do my cloth in the next few months i would like to soften the leather drops. can i use baseball glove conditioner. im not aware of any other products for this nature of work

Most leather conditioners add some sort of oil to soften the leather and protect it. I have at times lined the leather netting with a rag moistened with conditioner then stuffed the pocket with balls or plastic bags (something that won't suck the conditioner out of the rag) to open the pockets up a bit. Usually overnight or 24 hours should do. Then just keep rubbing everything you should feel it softening up a bit.

Ive had success with both TackMaster and LeatherHoney

The average moisture content for leather is typically somewhere between 17% -25%. Below that, the leather splits and cracks. Above that, the fibers start to break down and stretch. So my advice is 'dont overdo it'.

Mink oil is good on standard leather. You will need to let it dry overnight and wipe it down good to get it dry enough after you let it soak in. It will darken the leather a bit.
