Even though the table has not been very well maintained. Kind of like putting on a green that just got irritated in the fall. Wish the would do some work to this table, looks like people have been practicing masses.

If you put enough time on the table, ask the owner to put some new cloth on it. And if he does, definitely use it! Worked for us.

i know this is an old thread but
if i played alot in the room i would try and trade table time and chip in for the expense of redoing the cloth and table maintenance
as an incentive to the owner
my thinking
i am going to spend the money there anyway
might as well spend it on improving the equipment
jmho

would have to put in ALOT of table time to ask for a cloth change, its expensive as heck
new cloth is a bit overhyped i think
plays wild and hard to predict for a week where with worn, you already have a good feel on how it plays

I learned to play at a ramshackle old place on Waterman Ave. in San Bernardino, CA called the Pool Palace. They had 2 unheated old Brunswick 3c tables with what looked like the original cloth and rubber. But it was still better than what I have now, which is no 3c tables within an hour's drive.

It depends on the interest; if no one plays on the table, it isn't getting changed. But you can get it changed for $600-$700, which isn't a ghastly amount for a business that wants to keep its customers happy. I wouldn't spend much time on a table with holes in the cloth. No harm in asking.
