i recently came across a cue on this site that was stolen from my family a long time ago and was wonder what can be done. im not opposed to buying it back if the price was reasonable but would really like it back in the family. any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I would send a private message to the person who started the thread and go from there. You might even be able to trace ownership backwards and find the thief. Good luck.

That is the way to start it all out, IMO.

Provide the person with proof that you owned the cue, that it was stolen...a copy of the police report, etc...when it was stolen...any details like that.

If it was a cue of significant value, and it has been less than the statute would allow, and you filed a police report, contact the police where the report was filed with the info you have found on the cue. If the cue was insured, and an insurance payment was made on the item, you might bring it to the insurance company's attention, too.

None of us like a thief, and one of a collector's/dealer's biggest fears is that he/she will inadvertently wind up with stolen goods.
