It’s probably the last thing you want to think about at the moment, Poolkid, and for sure all AZBers are pulling for you, but a sliver of something good can emerge from this awful event if you’ll say a few words about how it came to be within easy reach of the thief. Likely someone was scouting it, you only turned away for a moment and it was gone or you went to buy a beverage or have a bio break and it was unattended even with plenty of nearby activity in the table's vicinity.
Anything you care to say about the circumstances would undoubtedly stick in the permanent memory of at least a few players and raise their level of vigilance just a bit regarding their own playing equipment wherever they play, even in the most friendly and trustworthy-seeming environments. Could happen to anybody, most especially with a great-looking (and tempting to immoral minds) cue. It’s the reason I guess that so many pros keep their cue case within sight under the table after worldwide cue theft experiences they personally had, or heard about.
Also, although you’ll almost certainly have thought of it already, but do check to see if the Carom Room had any security cameras going that might have picked up some relevant footage, however unlikely it may be.
