Last night I was playing a gambling match. 6 ahead for two hundred. I lost 6 games in a row. I was so pissed at giving my money away, I could barely see straight. I figured it just wasn't my night and should call it a night. Then I got to thinking that "How in hell am I ever going to learn how to man-up under pressure?" I asked the fellow if he would consider playing me another set even up and he looked like he was moon-walking as he unscrewed his case. I was already a little steamed and I barked at him to get up on the table. I just decided that if I was going to go down, I was going to go down fighting. I win the first 5 games in a row and the guy starts fighting back and gets me back to zero after an hour or so. We played for another couple of hours and I finally win the set. I'm tired and drink a beer, sitting around shooting the breeze with some of the other pool degenerates. There was some other action going on and everyone was having a good time so I stayed around for another hour.
About 15 minutes had passed and I hadn't thought about my cue or case. I looked around and it was no where to be seen. I had my break cue, my jump cue, my POW-MIA cue in there along with a survival kit that would sustain me in any urban jungle for a week or two and my heart jumped when I realized that I was no longer in contact with my equipment. All of a sudden I wasn't tired any longer and jumped out of my chair like I had sat on a tack. When one of the other locals saw me going nuts, he grabbed my case full of cues and handed it to me. I had left it standing against the bar where I purchased a drink for me and my opponent. Sheesh! What to do, what to do?
