Does anyone have an opinion about storing leather tips that are yet to be used. How much will humidity affect tips. Does this matter just wanting to know some opinions.

I store mine in a plastic organizer's when it's not in use I store all my tips in the gun safe, other then that just out of the sun and in an area that doesn't change much in tempature and humidity.

Alot of people think that touching the tips, that the oils from your hand can weaken the leather or cause them to delaminate. I haven't seen this happen but I do make sure when installing tips you take steps in keeping the mating surfaces clean from dust and oils.

The usual stuff applies. Keep 'em out of: sunlight, extreme humidity, and the like.

You can keep 'em in: Sealed Jars, Ziploc Baggies, storage bins, drawers, etc....

Treat them as you would anything leather.

Some tips by the way, may perform better after time to dry--most specifically chromium tanned hides: Snipers, Tiger Soft, Triangle, Elkmasters, yada-yada.

Vegetable tanned hides, Everest, Tiger Hard, Tiger Medium, Moori, LePro, etc.......are oily and over time can dry out. That time varies based on storage. A well stored tip will be fine 5+ years later.

Hand oil should not break down the glue bond with laminated tips, not with ours anyway. Unless you just changed the oil in your car and do not wash your hands before putting a tip on, I would not worry about it.
