Thats how I do it! Never had a cue move! Bought my first good cue in 1992.
Safe was $849 and dehumidifier rod was $29.99. Moving the safe thats the story.
I have always stored my cues in the same room I store my acoustic guitar. The prime relative humidity for an acoustic guitar is between 42% and 47%...so that is what I store my cues at...has worked out great for me.
poor instruments.... I hate the idea of guitars AND pool cues being "stored". But its a busy world ...Go PLAY with your boys (not those) when you get a chance...They are waiting! lol
