What does the soda bottle drill do for you?The old soda bottle or the buddy hall stroke trainer is a better investment.
Shoot into the bottle. If your stoke is straight you will be able to stroke into the bottle and not hit a side of the bottle. This is something that can be done at home you just need something that is table heightWhat does the soda bottle drill do for you?
But is that practical since with most shots, the rail makes the player shoot at a slight angle? That won't work with the bottle exercise. 'Straight' is one thing, but 'level' is different. The bottle requires level as well as straight since the objective is to not hit any of the sides, top or bottom with your cue.Shoot into the bottle. Get the buddy hall Training guide. It's adjustable for anglesBut is that practical since with most shots, the rail makes the player shoot at a slight angle? That won't work with the bottle exercise. Of course...Buddy would certainly take that into consideration.Get the buddy hall Training guide. It's adjustable for angles

That works even betterI prefer a Lone Star Longneck Bottle, I just drank.![]()
If that is a concern, just use a small shim and tilt the soda bottle! But is that practical since with most shots, the rail makes the player shoot at a slight angle? So I guess you can only practice from one spot, then, because the angle can change. I guess you can make a collection of different sized shims, but then it's probably easier to just get Buddy Hall's trainer that you can adjust. If that is a concern, just use a small shim and tilt the soda bottle!
Actually there's room for a little dip too if you start at the right distance. This can help set parameters for those who refuse to drop the elbow. If you really want to develop a perfectly linear stroke, DIY a grip diameter dowel that slides along a tilt and set rod. Perfect stroke. One thing I did was to set two foot long 2x4s parallel with enough room to comfortably stroke in between. Works as far as that goes.If that is a concern, just use a small shim and tilt the soda bottle!
not as expensive when you convert NZ dollars to US. Only .60cents so its about 240USD. Still not cheap and i agree with your take.Looks like this high-dollar gadget would be a good training tool for staying down on the shot. But the same thing can be done by simply practicing staying down on the shot, and the only cost is your time.
bottle drill sucks. NO ONE's stroke is dead-level.But is that practical since with most shots, the rail makes the player shoot at a slight angle? That won't work with the bottle exercise. Even if you tilt the bottle it still restricts up/down tip movement unnecessarily/unnaturally. Something like two golf tees stood up with a narrow gap between them would be better - but I think just paying attention is enough.bottle drill sucks. NO ONE's stroke is dead-level.
